Google+ to reach 10 millions today

Google had introduced the new social networking google just two week ago and it is growing at a very high rate. Google+ is rapidly becoming popular with about to 10 millions users already on the new social networking site and likely to reach the 20 millions at weekend.
Paul Allen, founder of Ancestry.com and chief executive of Facebook app maker FamilyLink.com, says on his Google+ page that nearly 7.3 million people have joined the social network till July 10 and the figure is likely to reach 10 million by today and 20 millions at the end of weekend. Here's an excerpt of Allen's post on his Google+ page “My surname-based analysis shows that the number of Google+ users worldwide reached 7.3 million yesterday (July 10) – up from 1.7 million users on July 4th. That is a 350% increase in six days. The userbase is growing so quickly that it is challenging for me to keep up, since the number of users of any given surname (even the rare ones I am tracking) seems to be climbing every day.” “More impressive than last week's growth is the astonishing growth in users from yesterday at mid-day to tonight -- a 30% jump. My latest estimate tonight shows approximately 9.5 million users. This suggests that 2.2 million people have joined Google+ ast 32 to 34 hours, for a total of about 9.5 million people on Monday.

How data is calculated?


"By using a sample of 100-200 surnames, I am able to accurately estimate the total
percentage of the U.S. population that has signed up for Google+," he wrote. "Then I use
that number and a calculated ratio of U.S. to non-U.S. users to generate my worldwide
estimates."
"If I hadresources to include 500 or 1,000 surnames in my sample, then I believe my model
would be more accurate. But my time and budget available for this project are small, so
it is what it is," he wrote.

Another say


"I predict that Google+ will go from 0 to 100,000,000 users faster than any other service in history," said Bill Gross, founder and CEO of technology incubator Idealab. "The service is great. It is timely. People are engaging with it like crazy. There are rumors that there are already 4.5 million people. That might be high. It might be as low as 1 million, or even lower, but my guess is that it's more than 1 million people already. 
Meanwhile google spokeman say that they have no such data to speak out as it is still under test.
