Photoshop Content-Aware to remove unwanted image

There are many time we got the picture, where we need to remove a certain image while retaining the background. For this Adobe had introduced Content-Aware feature in Photoshop CS5. Let start how to remove a part of image which is unwanted part.

Step 1: Choose your image. Open it in Photoshop, duplicate the layer to retain original image.


Step 2: Select the part of the image which you want to remove using the selection tools. You can use any tool (lasso or quick selection, )



Step 3: Go to Edit menu, select Fill option (or Shift + f5)


Step 5: After selecting the Fill option, a pop-up window will appear. Select Content-Aware as shown in figure and press enter (or click on ok).


Experiment with the opacity and modes as per your image.Your image is ready, the final image as shown below.



To remove the cup and the red table, i had re selected these part and apply the above process to get the image shown below.


Its very easy to do, take your images and do the experiments on it. Make sure that not all image can be extracted as this tool has its own limitation. How do you like this tutorial? Express your view by commenting.

  2. I tried it but didn't find the content-Aware option in fill. It is Avial only in Photoshop CS5
