The History Of Cricket World Cup

THE BRIEF HISTORY
The first world cup was played in 1975 in England with 8 team participated in it. Teams were INDIA , Australia, West Indies, England, Pakistan and New Zealand (6test playing nation) along with Sri Lanka and East Africa. The matches were of 60 over per Inning. Player wearing white robe and the ball were red in color. Total of 15 matches played, two groups were of 4 each and then semis.West indies clinch the cup by defeating Australia by 17 runs.
Second and third World cup too were played in England. The First three world cup were officially called as Prudential cup in the name of the sponsor Prudential Plc. In these two world cup red ball were used and the over limit per inning was of 60 overs. In second 15 matches were played while in third 27 and in both there were two groups and semis and then final type format. Second one had all test playing nation along with Sri Lanka and Canada ( both qualify through ICC Trophy) West Indies won the second world cup defeating England by 92 runs.
Third World cup was more Dramatic. We had 7 test playing nation INDIA , Australia, West Indies, England, Pakistan ,New Zealand and Sri Lanka, with Zimbabwe (qualify through ICC Trophy) participated in this one. INDIA came as surprise winner as no one aspect to happen so. They Defeated the Strong Team of West Indies by 43 runs in captaincy of great Kapil dev.
In 1987 first world cup played outside of England in INDIA/ Pakistan. Here game was of only 50 over per inning. The same teams participated those did in previous one and 27 matches were played in same format of the 1983. Australia defeat England by 7 run to named the cup.
In 1992 It was held in Australia/New Zealand. Here We had one extra teams totaling 9 (as in 1987) South Africa. First time in World cup white ball and the colorful clothes are introduced. Pakistan came as fire and win it by defeating England by 22 runs.
In 1996 World cup was played in INDIAN subcontinent (INDIA, Pakistan, Sri Lanka). 12 team participated in it. INDIA , Australia, West Indies, England, Pakistan ,New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Kenya, UAE, Netherlands participated. Total of 37 matches played. Format was of two group and then quarter finals and semis. Sri Lanka Defeated Australia by 7 wicket.
In 1999 again world cup goes to England .Few matches also hold at Ireland, Netherlands and Scotland. Here too 12 teams . INDIA , Australia, West Indies, England, Pakistan ,New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Bangladesh, Kenya, Scotland participated. Two group was there with 3-3 enter to super six semis. Total of 42 matches played out. Australia won their 2nd title defeating the Pakistan by 8 wickets.
In 2003 World cup goes to Africa , South Africa, Kenya, Zimbabwe host it. 14 teams of . INDIA , Australia, West Indies, England, Pakistan ,New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Bangladesh, Canada ,Netherlands, Namibia participated. %4 of matches played with grouping of 2 7-7 each and 3-3 from these two group enter in super six and then semis.Kenya was surprised to enter Semi. Australia again triumphs Defeating INDIA by 125 runs.
In 2007 World cup was held in Caribbean. Total of 16 team . INDIA , Australia, West Indies, England, Pakistan ,New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Kenya, BanglaDesh, Canada, Netherlands, Ireland ,Bermuda, Scotland participated. Four Group of 4 each was formed and two from each enter super eight and best four to semis. Ireland surprised Pakistan and Bangladesh to INDIA to enter super eight. Australia win thrice in row defeating Sri Lanka by 37 runs (Duckworth-lewis).
