In the Ranji match between Maharashtra and Assam a young talent rose from ground. Vijay Zol, playing for Maharashtra scored unbeaten 451, which is the individual highest score made by any player in Ranji. Previously it was in the name of Bhausaheb Nimbalkar who scored 443, in 1948 Ranji's match between Maharashtra and Kathiawar.
Zol, the left hander score this massive feast with playing for about 11 hours, facing 467 deliveries, and hitting 53 fours and 2 sixes. What huge time he spend for making this record. Zol said that " When you score 451 you can't even express exactly how one feels,". He told that bowling was decent and the pitch help him alot to score this massive score. On asking for the 500 runs, he reply that team is important and indivuala have to make these, for the sake of team.
With the massive score from Zol, Maharashtra puts 763/4 on scoreboard and in reply Assam were bowled out for 158 in first inning and asked for follow-on. Getting Follow-on Assam still struggling with 140/4.
Earlier, Zol was the highest run scorer in the Vijay Merchant Trophy, the domestic U-16 tournament. For this he had been getting awarded by BCCI.
How he did it? Played 11 hours..wow!
