Google celebrate the birthday of great Indian mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan with a Doodle on its homepage on occasion his 125th birth anniversary.
Like other Google Doodle this one too focuses on the work Srinivasa Ramanujan in a wonderful way. As it is know that was intelligent from the beginning, Doodle remarks as he (boy) write the formulas with sticks on the ground while other children plays with different items (Ramanujan has mastered Trigonometry at age of 12). The formulas that shown in the Doodle are all the great works form this genius mathematician.
Srinivasa Ramanujan was born on 22 December, 1887 at Erode, Madras Presidency (currently Chennai in Tamil Nadu). He die due to bad health on 26 April 1920. In his short life Ramanujan has made many discover and formulated many mathematical theorems and results. He works on about 3900 results, most which was proven to be correct. His research was worthy read more of his contribution, works, discovery and research on Wikipedia.
To honor Ramanujan, his birthday was declared as 'National Mathematics Day', last year by Government of INDIA. Also this year INDIA is celebrating 2012 to be the National Mathematical Year for Ramanujan's birthday.
Serious issue with our education is that there is very less thrust on creativity. The emphasis is more on memory and mugging up methodology. Google has to be thanked for their initiative in the name of late S.Ramanujan. Unfortunately, neither the country not the home state of the great mathematician did anything in his memory
