SLK Group placement pattern for the Freshers

Apptitude Round:
  • There will be 3 parts (Verbal, Quantitative, Reasoning).
  • Each section will have 20 questions.
  • There would be 60 min to solve the 60 question (20 from each parts).
Tips:
  • First solve Quantitative then go for Reasoning and at last think of Verbal.
  • In comprehensions, don't read the para (no time for it) just read question and ans them with searching from para.
  • Try to solve at-least 45 questions.(may differ from college to college).
  • Solve Rs Aggrawal
Sample questions:
  1. Average of 40 boys is 16 and if teacher age(50) is included what is the average age ? Ans:
  2. Profit – loss question- cost price is Rs. 600. Gain is 20% and loss is 5%. What is the cost price of the item having a loss of 5%? Ans: - 440
  3. number 50 should be divided such that sum of reciprocals is 1/12 ? ans 30:20
  4. question on profit and loss: some things are sold at 20 gain and loss 20 what is net profit or loss? ans 4%
  5. Between 100 and 1000, how many no. are there having at least one 6. ? Ans: - 252
  6. A metal cube having a weight of 6. If the size is increased by 2 times what will be the new weight.?

  10. Two train are moving towards each other with speed of 60mils/hr and 40 mils/hr. The distance between these two trains is 100 mils. A bird starts, with a speed of 90 mils/hr, flight from the point of faster train at the same time, towards the slower train. As it reaches to the slower train it moves towards another direction. What is the maximum distance the bird can travel when both train collapse?
  11. A metal cube having a weight of 6. If the size is increased by 2 times what will be the new weight.
  12. Two circles are given. The radius of the lager is 3 times of the smaller. Area of a arc is 2 for the smaller then find the area of the larger arc. Ans: - 54
Technical and HR round:  There will be a technical and HR round. Final selection done on the basis of them.

Tip:
  • Interview will ask most of the question (not all) from your fav subject so keep a strong command on one which you like.
  • Os and Dbms is must go for it.
  • In HR interview, they will ask you about yourself and your family background. Keep in mind your strength and weakness, very common question.

Funny Jokes on Engineers

Comprehending Engineers - Take One
***********************************
Two engineering students were walking across campus when one said, "Where did
you get such a great bike?"
The second engineer replied, "Well, I was walking along yesterday minding my
own business when a beautiful woman rode up on this bike. She threw the bike
to the ground, took off all her clothes and said, "Take what you want."
"The second engineer nodded approvingly, "Good choice; the clothes probably
wouldn't have fit."

To the optimist, the glass is half full.  To the pessimist, the glass is half
empty.  To the engineer, the glass is twice as big as it needs to be.

A pastor, a doctor and an engineer were waiting one morning for a particularly
slow group of golfers.
The engineer fumed, "What's with these guys?  We must have been waiting for 15
minutes!"
The doctor chimed in, "I don't know, but I've never seen such ineptitude!"
The pastor said, "Hey, here comes the greens keeper. Let's have a word with
him." [dramatic pause] "Hi George. Say, what's with that group ahead of us?
They're rather slow, aren't they?"
The greens keeper replied, "Oh, yes, that's a group of blind fire-fighters.
They lost their sight saving our clubhouse from a fire last year, so we always
let them play for free anytime."
The group was silent for a moment.  The pastor said, "That's so sad. I think I
will say a special prayer for them tonight."
The doctor said, "Good idea. And I'm going to contact my ophthalmologist buddy
and see if there's anything he can do for them."
The engineer said, "Why can't these guys play at night?"

Comprehending Engineers-Take Four

There was an engineer who had an exceptional gift for fixing all things
mechanical.  After serving his company loyally for over 30 years, he happily
retired.
Several years later the company contacted him regarding a seemingly impossible
problem they were having with one of their multimillion dollar machines. They
had tried everything and everyone else to get the machine to work but to no
avail. In desperation, they called on the retired engineer who had solved so
many of their problems in the past. The engineer reluctantly took the
challenge.
He spent a day studying the huge machine. At the end of the day, he marked a
small "x" in chalk on a particular component of the machine and stated, "This
is where your problem is".
The part was replaced and the machine worked perfectly again. The company
received a bill for $50,000 from the engineer for his service.  They demanded
an itemized accounting of his charges. The engineer responded briefly: One
chalk mark: $1. Knowing where to put it: $49,999.
It was paid in full and the engineer retired again in peace.

What is the difference between Mechanical Engineers and Civil Engineers?
Mechanical Engineers build weapons; Civil Engineers build targets.

Three engineering students were gathered together discussing the possible
designers of the human body.  One said, "It was a mechanical engineer. Just
look at all the joints."
Another said, "No, it was an electrical engineer. The nervous system has many
thousands of electrical connections."
The last said, "Actually it was a civil engineer. Who else would run a toxic
waste pipeline through a recreational area?"

"Normal people believe that if it isn't broke, don't fix it. Engineers believe

An architect, an artist and an engineer were discussing whether it was better
to spend time with the wife or a mistress. The architect said he enjoyed time
with his wife, building a solid foundation for an enduring relationship.
The artist said he enjoyed time with his mistress, because of the passion and
mystery he found there. The engineer said, "I like both."
"Both?"
Engineer: "Yeah. If you have a wife and a mistress, they will each assume you
are spending time with the other woman, and you can go to the lab and get some
work done."

Comprehending Engineers - Take Nine

An engineer was crossing a road one day when a frog called out to him and
said, "If you kiss me, I'll turn into a beautiful princess".  He bent over,
picked up the frog and put it in his pocket. The frog spoke up again and said,
"If you kiss me and turn me back into a beautiful princess, I will stay with
you for one week."
The engineer took the frog out of his pocket, smiled at it and returned it to
the pocket. The frog then cried out, "If you kiss me and turn me back into a
princess, I'll stay with you and do ANYTHING you want."
Again the engineer took the frog out, smiled at it and put it back into his
pocket. Finally, the frog asked, "What is the matter? I've told you I'm a
beautiful princess, that I'll stay with you for a week and do anything you
want.  Why won't you kiss me?"
The engineer said, "Look I'm an engineer. I don't have time for a girlfriend,
but a talking frog, now that's cool."

Final Year Project on KTR an Efficient Key Management Scheme

About the Project

KTR an Efficient Key Management Scheme for Secure Data Access Control in Wireless Broadcast Services
Abstract:
Wireless broadcast is an effective approach to disseminate data to a number of users. To provide secure access to data in wireless broadcast services, symmetric key-based encryption is used to ensure that only users who own the valid keys can decrypt the data. Regarding various subscriptions, an efficient key management to distribute and change keys is in great demand for access control in broadcast services. In this paper, we propose an efficient key management scheme (namely KTR) to handle key distribution with regarding too complex subscription options and user activities. KTR has the following advantages. First, it supports all subscription activities in wireless broadcast services. Second, in KTR, a user only needs to hold one set of keys for all subscribed programs, instead of separate sets of keys for each program. Third, KTR identifies the minimum set of keys that must be changed to ensure broadcast security.
Algorithm / Technique used:

Symmetric Key Management Algorithm.

Algorithm Description:

This section identifies the alternative algorithms and modes that shall be used when symmetric key management is employed, to encrypt data encryption keys (DEKs) and message integrity check (MIC) values. Character string identifiers are assigned for incorporation in encapsulated "Key-Info:" header fields to indicate the choice of algorithm employed. When symmetric key management is employed, the symmetrically encrypted DEK and MIC, carried in the third and fourth arguments of a "Key-Info:" header field, respectively, are each represented as a string of contiguous ASCII hexadecimal digits.

INDIA completed Whitewash

INDIA won the 5th and last match with  95 runs to complete the whitewash. With this INDIA has taken the revenge of an ugly phase they faced in England against them. It was a very dramatic match as from nowhere came and took the victory from the England mouth.

Winning the toss England decide to bowl first, Gambhir and Rahane open the inning and started playing carefully and slowly  to insure they do not loss wickets, but INDIA lost two quick wickets of both opener. After the departure of opener, Kholi got out for duck. Though Manoj tiwari and Raina stedy a little bit but still INDIA was facing trouble to score.  Any how with supports from other captain Dhoni produce as brilliant inning of 75 from 69 balls which made the score of 271/8 in 50 over possible. It was great power of batting from MS Dhoni which make possible to have a defend-able total.

When England came to Batting their opener Kewister and Cook do well to insure that they reach the total quickly and Easily but it was Varun Aaron who get rid of Cook, and after this England fall preety. None of the batsman able to face the tight and screwed attack from the spinners. INDIAN bowlers did well and they allout the whole team for just 176. Jadeja took 4 wicket. England player just go to pitch to get out.

Never Quit in Life

One day I decided to quit... I quit my job, my relationship, my spirituality... I wanted to quit my life.
I went to the woods to have one last talk with God.

"God", I said. "Can you give me one good reason not to quit?" His answer surprised me...

"Look around", He said.. "Do you see the fern and the bamboo?" "Yes", I replied.

When I planted the fern and the bamboo seeds, I took very good care of them. I gave them light. I gave them water. The fern quickly grew from the earth. Its brilliant green covered the floor. Yet nothing came from the bamboo seed.

But I did not quit on the bamboo. In the second year the Fern grew more vibrant and plentiful.
And again, nothing came from the bamboo seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo. He said.

"In the third year, there was still nothing from the bamboo seed. But I would not quit. In the fourth year, again, there was nothing from the bamboo seed. "I would not quit.." He said. "Then in the fifth year a tiny sprout emerged from the earth.

Compared to the fern it was seemingly small and insignificant... But just 6 months later the bamboo rose to over 100 feet tall.

It had spent the five years growing roots.

Those roots made it strong and gave it what it needed to survive. I would not give any of my creations a challenge it could not handle."

He said to me. "Did you know, my child, that all this time you have been struggling, you have actually been growing roots."

"I would not quit on the bamboo. I will never quit on you. " Don't compare yourself to others .." He said. " The bamboo had a different purpose than the fern ... Yet, they both make the forest beautiful."

Your time will come, " God said to me. " You will rise high! " How high should I rise?" I asked.

How high will the bamboo rise?" He asked in return. "As high as it can? " I questioned.

" Yes. " He said, "Give me glory by rising as high as you can. "

I hope these words can help you see that God will never give up on you. He will never give up on you. Never regret a day in your life.

Good days give you happiness
Bad days give you experiences;
Both are essential to life.

A happy and meaningful life requires our continuous input and creativity. It does not happen by chance. It happens because of our choices and actions. And each day we are given new opportunities to choose and act and, in doing so, we create our own unique journey." Keep going...

Happiness keeps you Sweet, Trials keep you Strong, Sorrows keep you Human, Failures keep you humble , Success keeps You Glowing, but Only God keeps You Going!

Half of the videos online served by You Tube

The You Tube is one of the greatest way of watching the online videos with wide varieties of taste. Though we have many video sites  as well as many of the sites that have their own way of showing videos. Many keep thier on database too store the videos and let user view them on their website. Even thought these site have grown up they didn't threat You Tube even a little bit. According to comScore’s Video Metrix report for September, nearly half of videos viewed online in september were delivered by Google owned You Tube.

About 39.8 billions of videos were watched online last month, of these 18.6 billions come from You Tube. Considering the amount of time spent on You Tube it is around 378 minutes (6.3 hours) which is followed by Hulu which count 180 minutes(3 hours). Also music videos are more famous and have great amount of views.

Since it's not that suprise but You Tube will get some comptetion with the increase in the popularity and use of of like Net Flix and Hulu. Let see how much these steal the share from You Tube.

Google+ users shared 3.4 billions photos in 100 days

At the Web 2.0 summit, Google social czar Vic Gundotra shared an amazing fact. The Google+ had seen the 3.4 billions of photos posted in the last 100 days. “That’s a big number even by Google standards,” Gundotra  said. It more to cheer for the Google to became the rival to Facebook.“Someone’s uploading those photos," he added.
The question is that will this continued the process as Facebook has 100 billions of photos and 6 billions add every week. May a day it count like this what Facebook is doing right now. Most important point is that more of the photos are upolded as they directly added to Google+ from the android phones.

iFall: An Android Application for Fall Monitoring and Response
Abstract:
Injuries due to falls are among the leading causes of hospitalization in elderly persons, often resulting in a rapid decline in quality of life or death. Rapid response can improve the patients outcome, but this is often lacking when the injured person lives alone and the nature of the injury complicates calling for help. This project presents an alert system for fall detection using common commercially available electronic devices to both detect the fall and alert authorities. We use an Android based smart phone with an integrated tri-axial accelerometer. Data from the accelerometer is evaluated with several threshold based algorithms and position data to determine a fall. The threshold is adaptive based on user provided parameters such
as: height, weight, and level of activity. The algorithm adapts to unique movements that a phone experiences as opposed to similar systems which require users to mount accelerometers to their chest or trunk. If a fall is suspected a notification is raised requiring the user’s response. If the user does not respond, the system alerts pre-specified social contacts with an informational message via SMS. If a contact responds the system commits an audible notification, automatically connects, and enables the speakerphone. If a social contact confirms a fall, an appropriate emergency service is alerted. Our system provides a realizable, cost effective solution to fall detection using a simple graphical interface while not overwhelming the user with uncomfortable sensors.

iWander: An Android application for dementia patients

Non-pharmacological management of dementia puts a burden on those who are taking care of a patient that suffer from this chronic condition. Caregivers frequently need to assist their patients with activities of daily living. However, they are also encouraged to promote functional independence. With the use of a discrete monitoring device, functional independence is increased among dementia patients while decreasing the stress put on caregivers. This paper describes a tool which improves the quality of treatment for dementia patients using mobile applications. Our application, iWander, runs on several Android based devices with GPS and communication capabilities. This allows for caregivers to cost effectively monitor their patients remotely. The data uncollected from the device is evaluated using Bayesian network techniques which estimate the probability of wandering behavior. Upon evaluation several courses of action can be taken based on the situation's severity, dynamic settings and probability. These actions include issuing audible prompts to the patient, offering directions to navigate them home, sending notifications to the caregiver containing the location of the patient, establishing a line of communication between the patient-caregiver and performing a party call between the caregiver-patient and patient's local 911. As patients use this monitoring system more, it will better learn and identify normal behavioral patterns which increases the accuracy of the Bayesian network for all patients. Normal behavior classifications are also used to alert the caregiver or help patients navigate home if they begin to wander while driving allowing for functional independence.

Planning and Development of an Electronic Health Record Client Based on the Android Platform

In this paper the planning and development of a backend software for a Electronic Health Record (eHR) Management System is presented. The system is based on the well-known Google's Android open platform, that offers easy networking procedures and low design complexity. The aim of this work is to present the system's client, which operates on a mobile device (Android based) and acquires data from the eHR connecting to a centralized Database offered by the Hospital or Clinic.

A public safety application of GPS-enabled smartphones and the android operating system

While the Apple iPhone single handedly redefined the term ¿smartphone¿ during its first two years of release, Google's Android platform for mobile devices has quickly developed into a serious open source alternative. We explored the android operating system (OS) and software development environment and evaluated several of its capabilities by constructing a working application. This application collected speed and location information from the Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver, used the Google Maps Application Programming Interface (API) to determine the location of nearby schools, and sounded an alarm if a person drove over the speed limit in a school zone. The platform proved capable of supporting a melding of different services, and we believe such smartphones have broad applicability to public safety problems.
Android-based SoD client for remote presentation
This paper presents Android-based SoD (System on-Demand) client for remote presentation in virtual desktop environment. SoD is framework for on-demand computing in virtual computing environment. SoD enables to build cooperative device collaboration by orchestrating virtualized peripheral resources such as monitors, keyboarders, mice and so on. The objective of this paper is providing an Android-based phone with SoD client function, especially, remote presentation including functions of a mouse, a keyboard and a monitor. Implemented SoD client is tested on virtual desktop environment consisting of a Xen hypervisor, Windows-based guest virtual machines. The challenge point of this paper is separating and virtualizing traditional peripherals of desktop. After this, we can redirect each virtualized I/O to any SoD client device on demand.

PortableLab: Implementation of a mobile remote laboratory for the Android platform

Mobile learning has been receiving increased attention from diverse conferences and publications. The attention is well deserved because, if correctly implemented, it constitutes an efficient complementary tool to the traditional learning methods. Following this idea, we present PortableLab, a mobile learning system that integrates an application developed for mobile devices with Google Android operating system. PortableLab allows students to analyze several poor quality power supply occurrences. For this, the mobile remote laboratory has to connect to a database server where real-time measured data is stored by a local signal processing module. The mobile application was designed as a complementary mean to the classic laboratory lessons. The developed system is a step forward in the development of mobile learning courses, presenting new contents directed for a `hot' platform. This paper describes the system, giving special focus on the system's overall infrastructure and the chosen technical solutions for the mobile application implementation, as well as on some preliminary results.

Development Platforms for Mobile Applications: Status and Trends

Mobile devices are increasingly accepted as suitable media for multimedia-rich applications. Software firms have started promoting programming platforms and tools tailored to satisfy the requirements of mobile device users, developers, and resource constraints. This article reviews the main characteristics, relative merits, and shortcomings of the most popular development platform options - specifically, Java ME, .NET Compact Framework, Flash Lite, and Android. It evaluates and compares these options according to various quantitative and qualitative criteria. It aims to serve as a reference point and guide for developers and practitioners in choosing a mobile platform for development on information appliances.

MobilisGroups: Location-based group formation in Mobile Social Networks

Location restrictions in Mobile Social Networks are often used to realize the notion of places as well as for proximity-based friend or interest matching. In this work, we extend this by the ability to create and manage groups with location and time restrictions regarding their visibility and ability to be joined. Its main contribution is the design and reference implementation of the reusable MobilisGroups service as part of the Mobilis platform, an XMPP-based service environment for developers of mobile social software. Location-based group formation furthermore links the physical and the virtual world by creating incentives to be at a certain place at a certain time and complements the two approaches mentioned above.

Developing mobile learning applications for electrical engineering courses

With the shift from desktop/laptop computers to multi-touch mobile devices (e.g. iPad, Smartphone, Tablet handheld), these mobile devices have become a part of everyday life and have potentials to promote in-class activities between teachers and students. In this paper, we have developed mobile learning applications for the Google's Android and Apple's iOS platforms to be used in electrical engineering courses at the University of Tennessee at Martin and have investigated their effects on student performance. These applications are quiz-style and touch based applications that ask students questions relevant to electrical engineering subjects. There are several different problems to choose from, including digital logic gate analysis, discrete signal convolution, and digital filter design. Once students complete the work, the score results can be sent to the instructor's email automatically. While students play with this mobile software, they are actually learning the subjects and getting to compete with classmates. Students also can learn anytime or anywhere, in or outside of the classroom.
A pervasive Dietary Data Recording System
Electronic sensors and various digital devices have been quite successful in improving collection of physical activity data in a pervasive manner, and we believe that advances in dietary assessment can be achieved using similar strategies. Dietary assessment is a critical yet understudied component within the domain of recent advances in electronic health records management. The design of a system for real-time recording of food intake requires considerable research to optimize both system characteristics and data collection procedures, and rigorous validation to confirm its superiority compared to paper-based methods for self-report. We propose to demonstrate a functional prototype of a Dietary Data Recording System (DDRS), which consists of an electronic data collection device and the software and protocols necessary to support data capture and calculation of nutrient intake. A key innovative feature of the DDRS is the use of a video camera and a laser-generated grid of distances to food surfaces, which allows calculation of food volume. This prototype system is a first step in designing an overall framework to support a realistic and rigorous evaluation of whether real-time, electronic collection of dietary data is feasible, acceptable and valid for betterhealth data management. Components demonstrated include a real-time data collection application based on the Google Android OS, a stream based data transfer and on the fly evaluation.
